I was going through Benjamin Preschool graduation folder and in his folder there are samples of things he did in school. I thought I would post one of his handwriting exercises to show him when he gets older. It is amazing what they are teaching in preschool these days. I remember when I was in preschool all we did was play and learn a few things. We didn’t actually start learning how to write until kindergarten. He is learning how to write, how to spell, and easy math (adding and subtracting). He writes in a journal every week, they do science and learn a little history. It’s good that they are doing this, but sometimes I wonder if they are pushing the kids to grow up to fast.
Today I got to see Benjamin perform in his Thanksgiving Program at School. They were so adorable in their Pilgrim outfits. This was a sad day for me because Benjamin and Brycen only have a few more days together before we move. They have been together since they were 9 months old.
It all started at 4pm this afternoon. I get a phone call from Benjamin’s school. When the school calls it’s one of two things, in trouble or sick….I have never gotten a call about him being hurt. My heart always drops when I get a call from them. So I get this phone call, “Ms. Wilson, Benjamin has fallen off the jungle gym and his bitten his tongue.” My response was “WHAT??? I will be there right away.” So I get off the phone with them and call Daddy and have him look up the doctors office. Mental note to self….KEEP THE DOCTORS NUMBER handy!!!! I did remember that the doctors office is open late on Mondays. Unfortunately, the DOCTOR was AT DINNER. Ok I know Doctors have to eat, but why do they have to when there is an emergency. I know Murphy’s Law at work. I have never driven so fast in my life. When I got there, Benjamin showed me his tongue and I almost burst out in tears. I think Benjamin was more brave than me. So I decided to take him to a walk in clinic…I love this clinic. It is a new clinic in Madison and they are fast and friendly. Anyway, I think I am going to go to bed now….All that excitement wore me out. I am just thankful that he is ok and there were no stitches involved!!! I think out of all of this, Benjamin is enjoying the fact that he can only eat soft foods and Popsicles.
We got over the first hurdle of having to learn in the morning at school. The first couple of weeks Benjamin would cry in the morning because he didn’t want to learn. The teachers were trying to get them ready for Kindergarten, which means sitting at a table and doing worksheets. Well, we got over that and he enjoys school again, so much that he is eager to learn how to write his name (I think it is mainly peer preasure). Anyway, he came home from school proud of what he had done…He needs to practice some more, but as they say, “Practice makes perfect.”
Here are Benjamin’s school pictures…Isn’t he handsome. He is 3 1/2 in these pictures.
Happy 50th Birthday Dr. Seuss!!!
This year is Dr. Seuss’s 50th Birthday. Don’t forget to have the kids send Dr. Seuss a birthday card (For every official Cat in the Hat Birthday Card received by mail or online before March 1, 2007, Random House Children’s Books will donate one book to First Book (up to 1,000,000 books)). I love Dr. Seuss books!! They are so fun to read to children. My favorite book is The Foot Book, Benjamin can tell you that.
