Benjamin had his first day of Kindergarten today. I don’t know who was more nervous, him, mommy, or daddy. Our little boy is growing up. As you can see in the first picture he was very nervous before KIndergarten, to the point of crying a little. I explained what was going to happen and once we got to Latchkey he was fine. I guess he was just a little overwhelmed. The second picture was after I picked him up. Mrs. S-T is his Kindergarten teachers name. She is really nice. Benjamin likes the fact that she teaches sign language. I think it is pretty cool too. I took a sign language class in college, so I know a little, so it will be fun to be able to try to communicate with each other.

We went to the Columbus Zoo this past weekend. It was DFAS day at the Zoo. Columbus Zoo is pretty neat because they have a water park and amusement park attached to the Zoo. Click on the picture to see more photos.
I was going through Benjamin Preschool graduation folder and in his folder there are samples of things he did in school. I thought I would post one of his handwriting exercises to show him when he gets older. It is amazing what they are teaching in preschool these days. I remember when I was in preschool all we did was play and learn a few things. We didn’t actually start learning how to write until kindergarten. He is learning how to write, how to spell, and easy math (adding and subtracting). He writes in a journal every week, they do science and learn a little history. It’s good that they are doing this, but sometimes I wonder if they are pushing the kids to grow up to fast.
As you all know this blog is All About Benjamin and the Family that surrounds him…So I asked Benjamin if he would sing the Alaphabet Backwards for me to capture this moment of transitioning from preschool to kindergarten. I told him when I show this blog to him when he is older, he would get a big kick out of it because it is all about him. He liked that idea. So here he is singing the Alphabet backwards….

We decided to go to Louisville, Kentucky during Memorial Day weekend. My husband has not had this weekend off of work for 7 years, so we thought we would do something fun. Benjamin had a blast. We did the amusement park and the water park. It was in the upper 80s and beautiful outside.
They have been doing science projects all year long and now it was the kids turn to show off. It was very exciting. We had exploding valcanos, tornados, density tests, color expirements, sound waves, flying balloons and flying corks. We did a density test. The ingredients you need are honey, water, oil, a cork, a penny, and a grape. When you pour the ingredience into the cup the honey goes to the bottom, the water to the middle, and the oil is on top. The most dense is at the bottom, to the least dense (the oil) at the top. The penny sank to the bottom (it’s the most dense), the cork sank to the middle, and the grape to the top (it was the least dense of all the objects). The kids were surprised of the out come. Benjamin did a great job of explaining ( with our help, of course ).
We have a few more weeks til preschool graduation and a class trip to the zoo.
It is hard to believe 5 years ago today, our baby boy was born. He was born at 2:42 in the afternoon. He weighed 7Ibs 15oz and was 21 inches long. I will never forget that day. He has grown up so fast. He has become such a smart young man with his Daddy’s great personality. We love you Benjamin!!!! Happy 5th Birthday, Little Man!!!
